Michael Albano

Michael founded Metropolitan Boston Real Estate in 2005, committed to bringing a new vision of customer service and innovative technology to the independent real estate agency.

He originally entered the real estate business in 1990 — a year many regard as the bottom of the crash which took place in the Boston real estate market in the late 1980’s. He has since become one of the most seasoned and successful real estate professionals in the Boston area, and led Group Boston Real Estate’s evolution and rise as one of the area’s best independent real estate companies. In 1994, Michael took a seven-year hiatus from real estate to resume his advertising career, first by taking charge of Business Development for Boston area ad agency, Hawley & Armian. After building the firm’s size and reputation, in 1997, Michael moved to Moscow to work for Friedman & Rose, a Boston-based agency, which had established itself early in the emerging Russian advertising market and continues to be one of the leading Russian ad agencies. In 1998, Michael became Director of Planning at TBWA/BDDP Milan, and helped develop Italian and European brand communication strategies for the agency’s global and Italian clients.

In 2000, he returned to Boston to work as Marketing Communications Director with Telegea.com, an Internet start-up, then returned to real estate in 2001 with Boston Real Estate Group, the company he helped found. In two and half years as Vice President and Managing Partner, Michael transformed Boston Real Estate Group from a small boutique to a franchise player and was instrumental in tripling the company’s staff and top line revenues. Launching Metropolitan Boston Real Estate is the culmination of Michael’s many advertising, marketing, Internet, and real estate experiences.

Michael lives in Chelsea with his wife and business partner Eden Edwards. Michael is very politically and civically active, having spent much of his early career as a political campaign and media consultant. In more recent years, he has lent his skills to many candidates for political office, and in 2010 he ran for state senator. He served as chair of The Chelsea Planning Board, was a member of the Chelsea Collaborative Board of Directors, Chelsea GreenSpace, and the Apollinaire Theater Fundraising Committee. He enjoys writing short fiction, is an avid film and music fan, plays blues guitar, and loves to cook and eat great food. Michael was born and raised in Somerville, MA, and though he has traveled extensively and lived in New York City, Moscow, Russia, Rome and Milan, Italy for extended periods of time, he has called the Boston area home for most of his life and has an incredible appreciation for and knowledge of the communities making up the greater Metropolitan Boston area.
